Border crossings! Not all fun and games

Most, if not all of the borders we cross have not been pleasant experiences. Sometimes we are mobbed by kids wanting to help out, money exchangers, beggars, waiting in long lines of vehicles and people. Some of the buildings such as customs, immigration and inspections are not clearly marked, and then there are copies needing to be made sending you on a wild goose chase. If that’s not enough, vehicle inspections, vehicle fumigation and insurance are a necessity too. After all this, then the fun really begins. Taking all of your stuff out of your vehicle, interrogations as to where, why and what your plans are in the country are coming. So why do we do this overlanding thing?  Because, because, because, because……… we’re following the yellow brick road! Seriously, because we love the freedom of being on the road with our own vehicle, to go off the beaten path, discovering the undiscovered. Plus our passports look really cool. If you’re enjoying our blog post, please let us know. We’re doing this for us and for you.
